SEPTEMBER 2009 | COLOR, TEXTURE, ART, WINE - TOM WARK DISCUSSES LEANNE"S ART ON FERMENTATION WINE BLOG
I first met Tom a few years ago, back when I had a make shift studio in a small upstairs room in my home. He was looking for something a little different for a client in the way of wine art, and I was honored to be approached for a few of my pieces. At the time, he wrote the article that you see on the right of your screen, in his Fermentation Daily Wine Blog. Our paths crossed again on Twitter, and am so thrilled and honored to have him write a second article regarding my art in a piece entitled Color, Texture, Wine, Art. Thank you again Tom!

JUNE 2009 | SACRE BLEU - WINE'S CONSUMMATE ARTIST: LEANNE LAINE ON WINE AND ART
We thank everyone at Sacre Bleu for their recent interview with Leanne. The interview, entitled "Wine's Consummate Artist: Leanne Laine on Wine and Art" was a really well written piece and Leanne was very happy, and honored, to be mentioned on their site. Twitter updates from Ashley Lauren / AshleyandWine feed their site with regular special feature updates, and there is a great selection of popular stories that allow for a fun, and informative read. Wine wipes? Didn't know about these until we saw these on Sacre Bleu's site with the tagline "Just because you're a borracha, doesn't mean you have to look like one." So true.
What is Sacre Bleu? From their own mouths, "The term sacre bleu has had many interpretations throughout the centuries. Today it is most commonly used to express amazement. This is precisely why we chose the name and the winemaker. Gustave Viennet makes our wine in the Languedoc region of south France. It is cared for and bottled at Chateau de Raissac, a place where art flourishes and wine is a muse. Gustave Viennet presides over the creation of a wine which we believe will truly astonish."
We are going to stay informed with Sacre Bleu, and we hope you check them out too at http://www.finewhineblog.com/. You can also find them on twitter http://twitter.com/sacrebleuwine and http://twitter.com/AshleyandWine
Thanks again!

Ciao Mambo is a stylish, trendy Italian restaurant that also have locations in Missoula, Montana and Hayden, Idaho and we are extremely happy to work with them again, decorating their walls with Leanne's works of art that assists in complimenting their wonderful establishment. It's a perfect accompaniment, and as told by John Gottberg Anderson from the Bulletin, "Frank Sinatra was singing “I’ve Got the World on a String” as I entered Ciao Mambo one evening. Sinatra’s music prevails here, along with light jazz; coupled with limited-edition prints in a red-wine theme by British Columbia artist Leanne Laine, the tunes create a mood of class without stuffiness."

Leanne's Art Sparks Interest from California's Wine Country
Leanne would like to thank Wark Communications in California for their write up in the Daily Wine Blog:
"In the course of feeding your passion for wine you come across various "accessories" that you are told you must have in order to do it right: Corkscrews that look like animals, 2000-bottle freestanding cabinets, cute "wine charms". The list of wine accessories is mighty.
Then there is wine art. That weird genre in which landscapes and bottles are represented in normally very amateurish or cute ways. But sometimes you come across an artist whose unique brush and clear mastery of technique combines with a passion for wine to create something quite stunning.
Leanne Laine is such an artist. I admit, her work appeals to me in large part due to the way she uses color and light. Though a portion of her work is happily focused on wine and that's why it is featured here at Fermentations, there is a dark, brooding, sensual quality to the way she gathers and blends color on her canvas that is striking, regardless of the subject matter.
Laine is a Canadian who got to art after a stint as a singer then time in the corporate world. She's one of those lucky ones who found her calling at a young age. The prices of both her original works as well as her prints are quite reasonable.
In the past I've been convinced that artworks representing your passions, such as wine, always seem a bit tacky to be hung on the wall of your home or office. The "wine works" I possess are prints of Willi Wine Bar Posters. They sit in my office. But I admit, I'm tired of them. Frankly, they are just a bit too happy. I never liked "happy" looking art. Laine works in a broad range: celebratory, intimate, voyeuristic, abstract, whimsical, crude, spirited."
